Math Tutor Network's Fundamental Skills Development program is designed for students who would like to solidify their math foundations knowledge. Often, students struggle in Math not because they are not able to understand the theory in topic, but because of a gap in their math foundations. This barrier prevents students from trying further as they lost their confidence in Math.
Who Should Enroll?
Students should enroll in this program if they have a weak math foundation or are not having enough practice in basic algebra. Students who rely too much on the calculator or make a lot of careless mistakes are indications that they are not strong enough with their fundamental skills.
This program is most suitable for students in Math 6 to Math 9.
Students will learn the steps to perform numerical operations without a calculator. Having a good understanding of algebraic steps will allow them to solve complex equations as they move into higher level Math.
This program would focus on the following topics:
- Integers and Decimals
- Ratios, Rates and Proportions
- Squares and Square Roots
- Powers and Exponents
- Order of Operations
- Solving Equations
Lessons are available for both individual tutoring and group tutoring. Lessons will be held at the student's home or at the public library. The length and number of lessons will be tailored to students.
